See it colored

Every Color with Grace page is a starting point. Here are ready-made pages shown two ways: the line art you start with, and a finished example colored by hand. Study the example, then color the same page in the app — or print it and use your own markers, pencils, or crayons.

Shading basics

  1. 1

Pick three of everything — a main colour, a lighter touch for the bright spots, and a darker shade for the shadows.

  2. 2

Decide where the light comes from before you start — one corner of the page, like the top left — and keep it the same everywhere.

  3. 3

Shadows live away from the light: under chins, inside fabric folds, beneath anything that overlaps, and on the far side of round things.

  4. 4

Build up in thin layers — colour the light shade first, then add the darker shade a little at a time where the shadow goes.

  5. 5

Leave some white — paper showing through is a highlight, so you do not need to colour every inch.

Scenes: choose one corner where the light comes from — here it is the top left. The sunset sky stays warm and bright, while everything facing away from the light gets the deeper shade: the sea swirls are darker blue in their curves and the right side of the ark sits in shadow.

People: warm brown skin with a darker shade under the chin and along one side of the face, and a soft blush on the cheek. The gown is one purple family — lighter where the light lands, deeper inside every fold — so the fabric looks soft instead of flat.

Patterns: jewel colors shine when no two touching pieces match. Red sits beside blue, amber beside violet. The center pieces are the lightest so the light seems to glow from the middle of the window, and the stone frame stays cool grey-blue to hold it all together.
