Coloring as a Quiet Time with God
How a simple coloring page can become a gentle, unhurried way to pray, listen, and rest with a scripture in front of you.

Quiet time does not always begin with words. Sometimes it begins with a pencil, a page, and a few unhurried minutes. Coloring slows the hands, and when the hands slow down the heart usually follows.
A coloring page with a verse on it gives you something to hold while you pray. You are not trying to fill the silence. You are simply staying with one line of scripture long enough for it to settle.
Start with one verse, not a whole chapter
Pick a page whose verse you would like to carry through the week. Read it once before you begin coloring, and once again when you finish. In between, let your mind wander back to it whenever it wants to.
You may notice that the same words mean something slightly different by the time the page is full. That is the point.
Let it be imperfect
Grace is not tidy, and neither is a well-loved coloring page. Color outside the line, change your mind halfway, start over if you want to. Nothing here is being graded.
If you like, keep the finished page somewhere you will see it — a fridge door, a desk, the inside of a Bible cover — so the verse keeps speaking after the coloring is done.
