A short, friendly course that teaches how light works on a coloring page — seven small lessons you can take at your own pace.

If you have ever finished a coloring page and felt it looked flat, the missing piece is almost always shading — the simple skill of making one side of a shape lighter and the other darker. It sounds small, but it is what turns a page into a picture with light in it.
The Shading Lessons are our short course on exactly that. Seven small lessons, each one a single idea you can practice on any page you are already coloring: where the light comes from, how to lay down a flat color first, when to add the first shadow pass, and how to build up depth, highlights, and texture a little at a time.
Made for beginners of every age
The lessons use plain words and everyday shapes — clouds, trees, cups, faces — so a child can follow along and an adult will still learn something. There is no grading and no rush: take one lesson a week, or sit down with all seven in an afternoon.
Each lesson pairs naturally with the pages in the coloring books, so what you learn goes straight onto the page in front of you.
